Excess Carbs May Cause Diabetes

The high number of people with diabetes mellitus (DM) in Indonesia due to the Indonesian people eating too many carbohydrates. This was said by The Center for Drug Studies Natural Materials (PS-OBA) Department of Pharmacy, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (Science Faculty-UI) Sumali Wiryowidagdo. According to him, with rice as a staple food, is not strange when the country is ranked fourth in the number of diabetics in the world. Rice containing glucose in quantities of many excessive and glucose is one of the causes of diabetes. 
 
"It has been several times suggested to replace rice with other food ingredients as a staple food, but our people are hard to change habits," explained Sumali. 
It is said, a different diet made people in developed countries. They consume more protein and fat than carbohydrates. Mentioned, the number of diabetics in Indonesia reached 8.5 million people in 2000. After five years ago, the number of people estimated to have increased three-fold. 
DM disease is a chronic disease characterized by elevated levels of blood sugar caused by lack of insulin or non-functioning of the hormone insulin in the body. 
The function of insulin is to transfer blood glucose into cells so that glucose can be used as an energy source. When the hormone insulin does not exist or is not functioning there will be a buildup of glucose / sugar in the blood. 
While the symptoms of diabetes, among others, characterized by frequency increased urination, weakness due to nutritional deficiencies levels of the cellular level, vaginal discharge in women because of refractory fungal infections, vision problems due to nutritional deficiencies in retinal cells, and other . 
In addition, the risk factors that could cause such a person has diabetes, genetic factors from family, being overweight, smoking, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, lack of exercise, and increasing age.
